Major Changes

Deserter System Mythic+

Deserter System Mythic+

Blizzard confirmed to Wowhead that a new system to handle frequent Mythic+ leavers will be introduced in Season 3 of The War Within.

🔍 How it works:

  • To leave a dungeon without penalty, a vote to abandon must be initiated.
  • If the group agrees, all players may leave without any rating loss or consequences.
  • Players who leave frequently without a vote will be flagged in the Group Finder as someone who quits often.
  • The flag can be removed by successfully finishing runs or properly using the abandon vote system.

🧠 Expected impact:

  • This isn’t an account-level punishment, but a social deterrent—flagged players will be clearly marked and less likely to be invited to groups.
  • The system is similar to DOTA’s low priority queue, where poor behavior leads to isolation until players improve.
  • It encourages leavers to improve their behavior in order to clear their mark.

❓ Unanswered questions:

  • What happens if someone leaves before initiating a vote?
  • Do disconnects count as leaving?
  • How many unsanctioned leaves does it take to be flagged (Blizzard likely won’t reveal this)?
  • Can players exploit the system to remove the flag by queueing and instantly leaving?

New Dungeon: Eco‑Dome Al’dani

New Dungeon: Eco‑Dome Al’dani

Eco‑Dome Al’dani is one of the most valuable protected ecosystems built by the Ethereals, functioning like magical greenhouses. However, it has been seized by a group of Wastelanders, and players will need to step in to reclaim control.

🌿 Setting and Themes

  • The dungeon is set inside an ethereal dome filled with magical wildlife and preserved nature.
  • These ecological domes have appeared before (e.g. Eco‑Dome Midrealm in Netherstorm).
  • Key narrative questions arise: Why this dome? What do the Wastelanders want from it?

⚔️ Bosses and Structure

  • The dungeon features 3 total bosses.
  • Encounters blend natural and ethereal themes, involving both Void invaders and Wastelander forces.

🕒 Availability

  • The dungeon will be available at the launch of Patch 11.2, in the following difficulties:
  • Normal
  • Heroic
  • Mythic 0
  • It will be part of the Mythic+ rotation for Season 3.

New Artifact: Reshii Wraps

New Artifact: Reshii Wraps

🧵 New Artifact: Reshii Wraps

🧭 What is the Reshii Wraps?

Reshii Wraps is a new upgradeable artifact cloak introduced during the 11.2 story campaign. Players will be tasked by a powerful figure to gather Ethereal relics and merge them into this legendary item.

🌌 Feature Highlight: Phase Diving

The core mechanic of the Reshii Wraps is a new ability called Phase Diving:
  • Transforms your character into a pure energy form.
  • Allows you to access hidden spaces and layers in K’aresh, as well as in dungeons, Delves, and raids.
  • Lets you experience the world through Ethereal perception, revealing secrets and alternate paths.
🔍 “You’ll see the world through the eyes of the Ethereals.”

🏰 Gameplay Applications

  • Manaforge: Omega (Raid)
  • You’ll use the cloak to bypass the arcane intake filtration system, enabling infiltration and a confrontation with the Warden, the first boss.
  • Delve: Archival Assault
  • The cloak unlocks hidden gateways, leading to boss rushes or elite challenge rooms.
  • Outdoor Exploration in K’aresh
  • The Reshii Wraps is essential for interacting with hidden environmental elements and completing zone-specific secrets.

🔄 Weekly Upgrade System

Unlike previous expansion systems (e.g., Heart of Azeroth, Ashjra’kamas), Blizzard confirmed this will be a flexible and player-friendly progression:
  • Warbound System
  • Progress on the cloak is shared across your Warband.
  • ➤ You can upgrade it on one character and use that progress on alts.
  • Weekly Upgrades
  • The cloak upgrades week by week, using a currency earned from:
  • Mythic+
  • Raids
  • Delves
  • General PvE activities
  • Catch-up System
  • If you miss a week (e.g. vacation, break), you’ll be able to catch up later without penalty or falling behind friends.

A Change from Previous Seasons

A Change from Previous Seasons

🗓️ A Change from Previous Seasons

Unlike past seasons, where players had to wait a week between the patch release and the actual season start, Blizzard has decided to release several key features immediately on Day 1 of Patch 11.2 to offer early progression paths.

🎙️ "We want players to have something to do right away, not just wait around for the raid or Mythic+ to open." – Blizzard Dev Team

📦 Content Available on Day 1

  • Non-Bountiful Delves Available right away, with Season 3 tuning already applied.
  • Mythic 0 Dungeons Baseline versions open from the start – perfect for gearing up early.
  • Heroic Dungeons Updated and scaled to match Season 3 difficulty.
  • World Bosses Spawn immediately and drop seasonal loot.
  • Tazavesh Returns Back as a narrative hub and key location.
  • New Delve Nemesis: Ky’veza Introduced as the seasonal boss in the new Delve experience.

🏅 Champion Gear Available from Day 1

In addition to early access, rewards will also be seasonal from the start:
  • All the above content will drop Champion-level gear right away.
  • Players can begin powering up before the official start of Mythic+ and the Manaforge: Omega raid.

Note: This content will be more challenging than usual, as it's already scaled to Season 3 difficulty.

Tazavesh: Hardmode Returns

Tazavesh: Hardmode Returns

Tazavesh, the iconic Veiled Market from Shadowlands, returns in Patch 11.2: Ghosts of K’aresh as both a full-blown eight-boss Mythic-only megadungeon and as two separate Mythic+ wings.

⚙️ Hardmode Format: A Timer-Free Mini-Raid

  • Entering Tazavesh on Mythic 0 automatically activates Hardmode.
  • The dungeon is tuned like a Mythic+ 10, with comparable loot rewards, and may even contribute to +10 Great Vault progression.
  • Designed as a “mini-raid” experience without a timer, where group coordination is key.

🗣️ “We want to provide that mini-raid feel. People really love megadungeons, and we want to make it worth your time.” – Drew De Sousa

🔁 Split Wings for Mythic+ Rotation

Alongside the full version, Tazavesh is also available as two wings in the Mythic+ system:
  • Streets of Wonder – 4 bosses
  • So’leah’s Gambit – 4 bosses
These wings will return similarly to their Season 4 Shadowlands form. Based on current developer comments, they will not feature automatic Hardmode mechanics, making them more accessible to PUG groups.

🧠 Emphasis on Communication Mechanics

Blizzard is reintroducing coordination-heavy mechanics that rely more on group communication rather than computational add-ons.

🎯 Example: The boss Hylbrande will feature a more complex mechanic in Hardmode, requiring coordinated decoding efforts, while in Mythic+ it will be simplified (e.g., the code is visible to all players).
“We want mechanics that feel like raid encounters—requiring a few pulls with your friends and real teamwork. Hardmode is the right space for those.”

👑 Returning Boss: Timecap’n Hooktail

Fan-favorite boss Timecap’n Hooktail returns to the Veiled Market, bringing her quirky style and chaotic pirate energy back to the stage.
Content: Phase Diving

Content: Phase Diving

Reshii Wraps, the artifact cloak, allows you to transform into a pure energy form, giving you Ethereal vision of the world .

🔍 What is Phase Diving?

  • An outdoor activity that lets you access a hidden overlay phase of K’aresh (and also in dungeons, raids, and Delves) .
  • In this phase, you encounter exclusive objectives, world quests, rare mobs, mechanics, and much more.
  • Warrants: missions from the Tazavesh constable to hunt monsters visible only while Phase Diving.
  • Social aspect: party members can see your Phase Diving, you can leave messages for them, and even view where they died .

🕹️ Where to Phase Dive

  • Outdoors in K’aresh
  • New Dungeon: Eco‑Dome Al’dani
  • New Raid: Manaforge Omega
  • New Delve(s)

Steph Yoon: “…with the Reshii Wraps you can use Phase Diving in the open world, dungeon, raid and Delves!” .

In Manaforge Omega, you Phase Dive to literally infiltrate the mana filtration systems by turning into energy.

🎮 How It Works

  • Blizzard introduces a permanent overlay layer for the first time.
  • This is reminiscent of Shadowlands Rift portals, which granted access to special realms and rewards

Minor Changes

  • New indicators on the map clearly showing the current narrative variant of Delves, making it easier to participate in seasonal content.
  • Added "Waystone" icons to easily track progress in Mythic+ dungeons, such as Eco-Dome Al’dani.
  • Implemented mandatory group voting to abandon Mythic+ keys. Players who frequently leave will be visually flagged.
  • Planned specific adjustments (buffs/nerfs) for Shadow Priests, Brewmaster Monks, and further tuning for Death Knights.
  • New Ethereal models featuring updated colors and dynamic armor designs to highlight their culture.
  • New dynamic icons for PvP events, special tasks (Warrants), and world bosses.
  • More detailed narrative tooltips for lore elements and points of interest (POIs).
  • API optimization to facilitate easier updates and compatibility for external add-ons.
  • Improved tooltip text scaling for better readability.
  • Introduced voice input for raid coordination.
  • Enhanced group markers for improved visual clarity.
