Tips

information

1. The Core Mechanic: Soul Canisters

Around the edges and center of the room are 12 Binding Machines (canisters), each holding an Unbound Soul. You can’t kill these adds unless their canister is destroyed first, and the only way to do that is with Soulfray Annihilation, a big orb the boss fires twice per cast.
  • Two canisters per Soulfray Annihilation cast
  • 12 canisters total
  • You do 3 full casts, ideally killing 6 canisters and a final room-wide explosion that clears the rest
Layout TL;DR:
  • Left: 2 top, 2 bottom
  • Right: 2 top, 2 bottom
  • Middle: 4

2. Phase 1 – Freeing Souls (Intentionally)

Start on One Side (Left or Right) and position the boss between the two side canisters, this allows your raid to cover both.
The 2 players targeted stand behind each canisterno one else can be in between or the orb gets eaten and wasted.
If you miss a shot, the add stays immune and you’ll be punished in the intermission.
Do this setup for 2 Soulfray Annihilation casts, and you should destroy 4 canisters on one side. So kill 2 Canisters on bottom, then switch to top.

Then, Swap Sides.
After the second cast, use mobility abilities and Warlock Gateway to cross to the other side of the room, skipping the middle. The Boss follows the raid.
Do one final Soulfray Annihilation, then break 2 more canisters.

3. Handling Soulfire Convergence and Soulrend Orbs

Every so often, several players will be targeted by Soulfire Convergence, this is a DoT that pulses Arcane damage every second and eventually expels a Soulrend Orb from the afflicted player. These orbs travel in a straight line outward from the player’s body and will hit the first person they collide with, applying a nasty 30% movement speed slow and 25% haste reduction.

Essence Implosion

After that, Essence Implosion triggers and breaks the remaining canisters. This is the big intermission moment, every add that’s still bound will be freed.
If you messed up Soulfray Annihilation earlier, the more canisters explode the heavier ticking raid damage.
Adds spawn from middle and side canisters you didn’t clear, tanks need to grab everything.
Interrupt Shadowguard Mages, stay spread for Phaseblade bounces, and use cleave/AoE to mop them up.

Mechanics

Soul Calling

https://www.wowhead.com/en/spell=1225582 - At the start of the fight, and then every 2 min 30s, the boss activates 6 pods in the room. They all hatch an ethereal add 1 min 40s after activation. You can destroy the pods using a boss' ability to reduce the number of fully-grown adds you'll have to face.On Normal, you can destroy all pods before they hatch.
Break pods before they hatch to handle less adds.

Soulfire Convergence

https://www.wowhead.com/en/spell=1225616 - The boss marks a few players with a 3s DoT. When it expires, players shoot small orbs in multiple directions.Players hit by the small orbs get a nasty DoT and are slowed 15s.
Marked players run away. Dodge the orbs.

Soulfray Annihilation

https://www.wowhead.com/en/spell=1227276 - The boss targets 2 players and shoots an orb in their direction.Drag the boss near the 2 pods you want to destroy. Aim an orb at each of them (you can walk through them), then kill the harmless souls inside. Each orb can only destroy 1 pod. Destroying a pod deals damage to the raid. The orbs don't have infinite range. If a player gets hit by an orb, it's wasted. The boss casts this 3 times before the adds spawn.
Drag boss near the 2 pods you want to destroy.  Aim 1 orb at each and dodge the orbs.

Soul Weave

https://www.wowhead.com/en/spell=1239988 - 1 min 40s after the boss casts Soul Calling, the remaining pods explode and hatch an ethereal add that matches the soul inside the pods.Group them with the boss and cleave them down. There are 3 types of adds:- The Mages need to be interrupted.- The Assassins jump on players and apply a DoT to them.- The Phaseblades deal constant raid-wide damage.
Quickly group all the ethereal adds with the boss. Interrupt and kill them.

Arcane Expulsion

https://www.wowhead.com/en/spell=1242088 - The boss knocks the raid back, deals a burst of raid-wide damage, and applies a 15s DoT.Don't get knocked into orbs or off the platform.
Raid is knocked back and takes damage. Watch for orbs and the edge of the room.
