Delves

Delves are an exciting new addition to the endgame content of World of Warcraft. They can be completed solo or in groups of up to five players, with cross-faction grouping enabled. During Delves, you will always be accompanied by an NPC companion with customizable abilities to support you.

  • NPC Companion: Customizable as a healer or damage dealer. Abilities are divided into three categories: combat role, combat curio, utility curio. New abilities are unlocked with level.

  • Objectives and Puzzles: Specific objectives and puzzles for additional rewards. Rewards include mounts, pets, and equipment.
  • Difficulty Levels: 11 difficulty levels: Levels 1-2: For leveling. Levels 3-11: For endgame with specific item level recommendations.
  • Zone Affixes: Zone-based affixes add variety and challenges.
  • Difficulty Level Rewards: Vary with difficulty level, with greater rewards at higher levels.
  • Abundant Excavation: Offers a rare and epic chest upon completion, with an epic chest available starting at level 3 in an Abundant Excavation.

NPC Companion: Brann Bronzebeard

In season 1, the NPC companion is Brann Bronzebeard. You can customize his abilities to enhance your Delve experience. Brann can take on the role of a healer or damage dealer, and his abilities are divided into three categories:
  • Combat Role: Choose whether Brann will be a healer or damage dealer.
  • Combat Curio: Choose an idol to give Brann specific abilities such as dealing damage, taunting, or healing.
  • Utility Curio: Choose a relic to obtain special buffs like haste, crit, versatility, or avoidance.
Brann will acquire new abilities as he levels up, eventually unlocking the final ability at level 17, which increases in power with each additional level.

Finding and Starting a Delve

Delves are marked on the War Within map with a specific icon. Approaching the entrance will trigger a pop-up interface that provides detailed information about the Delve, including the type of mobs and available rewards.




A UI will popup before entering a Delve where you can see information about each Tier. It will tell you what kind of mobs there are, how much increased damage and health the mobs have in percentage, the affix and also if there is more special rewards.

Environments and Mobs

Delves are located in four different zones, each with unique environments and mobs:
  • Khaz Algar: Mobs typical of the zone.
  • Ringing Deeps: Mobs and environments from the zone.
  • Hallowfall: Mobs and environments from the zone.
  • Azj-Kahet: Mobs and environments from the zone.

Zone-Based Affixes

Delves feature zone-based affixes, adding variety and challenges to the gameplay experience.

Rewards and Enhancements

During Delves, you can find rare mobs, treasure chests that grant special powers, and herb and mining nodes. Special powers, similar to those found in Torghast in Shadowlands or the Cobalt Assembly in Dragonflight, offer temporary buffs that are not class or spec-specific.

Difficulty Levels

Delves are divided into 11 difficulty levels:
  • Levels 1-2: For leveling.
  • Levels 3-11: For endgame, with specific item level recommendations.

Bountiful Delve

In each zone, you can find a "Bountiful Delve," which rewards a rare and epic chest upon completion. Normally, to obtain the epic chest, you need to complete a level 8 Delve. However, a Bountiful Delve will reward both chests at level 3.

How to Get the Ivory Goliathus Mount - Delve Meta Achievement

In the new expansion, "The War Within," World of Warcraft introduces the Delve Meta achievement, "Glory of the Delver." By completing this meta achievement, you will be rewarded with the Ivory Goliathus mount. This guide will provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to complete the Delve Meta achievement, including the specific delve achievements required.

Step 1: Prepare for Tier 8 Delve Difficulty

Before attempting the delve achievements, it is important to ensure that you are properly geared. Tier 8 delve difficulty can be challenging, so make sure your character is adequately equipped with gear appropriate for this level of content.

Step 2: Complete the War Within Delve Achievements

To complete the Delve Meta achievement, you need to fulfill the requirements of the following delve achievements:
  1. Sporesweeper: Successfully complete a Fungarian delve without being hit by Explosive Spores on Tier 8 or higher.
  2. Just Keep Swimming: Successfully complete a Kobyss delve without ever losing your breath on Tier 8 or higher.
  3. Spider Senses: Successfully complete a Nerubian delve without spawning ambushers from Nerubian Webs on Tier 8 or higher.
  4. No Stone Unturned: Find and open all Sturdy Chests hidden throughout the War Within delves.
  5. Brann Development: Level Brann Bronzebeard to level 25.
  6. I TAKE Candle!: Successfully complete a Kobold delve without exhausting a controlled Enchanted Candle or Air Totem on Tier 8 or higher.
  7. One Ping Only: Successfully complete a Kobyss delve while only ever inhaling one Necrotic Bubble on Tier 8 or higher.
  8. Daystormer: Successfully complete an Order of Night delve without being targeted by Artillery fire on Tier 8 or higher.
  9. Nemesis: Defeat Zekvir in his lair.

Step 3: Track Progress and Complete the Meta Achievement

As you complete each delve achievement, your progress towards the Delve Meta achievement, "Glory of the Delver," will be tracked. Once you have completed all nine delve achievements listed above, you will earn the Delve Meta achievement and be rewarded with the Ivory Goliathus mount.

In each zone, you can find an "Abundant Excavation," which offers a rare and an epic chest upon completion. Normally, you need to complete a level 8 to get the epic chest, but an Abundant Excavation will reward both chests at level 3.

The requirements for completing higher difficulty levels include finishing the Excavations within a limited number of revives:

  • Level 4: Complete the Excavation within 10 revives.
  • Level 5: Complete the Excavation within 8 revives.
  • Levels 6-7: Complete the Excavation within 6 revives.
  • Levels 8-9: Complete the Excavation within 5 revives.
  • Level 10: Complete the Excavation within 4 revives.
  • Level 11: Complete the Excavation within 3 revives.
